Corporations have historically rewarded high performing
employees with promotion to the level of manager. Usually, they
do not provide this newly promoted manager with the training or
education to perform the tasks that the new position requires. Workshops
are generally limited to providing information or performing routine
bureaucratic chores, but the most vital areas are generally overlooked.
Published surveys have shown that the single most prevalent reason
for employees changing jobs is dissatisfaction with their immediate
manager. To them, the manager represents the company, and the groups
working environment is representative of the corporate culture as
a whole.
Management Coaching focuses on these areas. We partner
with the manager to develop skills in:
- Interpersonal and communications skills
- Staff development and dealing with conflict
- Energizing the work environment
- Team coaching
- Identifying team strengths and weaknesses
- Time management
- Balancing work and personal life issues
- Identifying gaps and obstacles to efficiency
- Setting and achieving goals.
- Prioritization of activities.
Management Coaching relationships generally are based
on specific requirements of the manager, if contracted individually,
or by the Company, if contracted on the managers behalf. The
intention is to work on a specific set of issues. Coaching sessions
are generally held by telephone, although one-on-one sessions are
sometimes beneficial. If a team is involved, occasional group meetings
will be held.
In general, telephone sessions are held weekly, for
a period of thirty minutes each. Team meetings can be of up to two
hours in length, held as often as the requirements demand.
